Privacy Policy

Couch ("we", "our", or "us") is a shared watchlist app that helps groups decide what to watch together. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

We collect only what's necessary to run the app:

• Email address — used to create and sign in to your account
• Display name — the name you choose within a group
• Watchlist data — movies and TV shows you add to your group
• Group data — group names, invite codes, member lists
• Match votes — your like/pass votes within Match Mode

We do not collect your real name, phone number, location, or any payment information directly (payments are handled by Stripe).

How we use your data

• To provide the app's core features (watchlists, groups, Match Mode)
• To sync your data across devices
• To send notifications when enabled (e.g. when a group member adds a title)

We never sell your data. We never use it for advertising.

Third-party services

Couch uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase — our backend database and authentication provider. Your data is stored securely on their servers. Supabase Privacy Policy →
• TMDB (The Movie Database) — used to search for movies and TV shows and fetch metadata (posters, descriptions, ratings). No personal data is shared with TMDB.
• OMDb API — used to fetch Rotten Tomatoes scores. No personal data is shared.
• Stripe — used to process subscription payments. We never see or store your card details. Stripe Privacy Policy →

Data retention

Your data is stored as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete account), which permanently removes all your data from our servers.

Children's privacy

Couch is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Contact us with any privacy concern
